As promised, I am returning to you with an update of the new Rincon Hill Dog Park.

Since my original post this is what has happened and is happening:

December 16^th, 2011 began the park’s soft opening, lights were turned on as of December 20^th, and as of the 21^st, volunteers have kept the Dog Park open until 10 PM. Currently, the Park’s hours are M-F from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sat & Sun from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Some areas of the park are still under construction including a couple of gaps in the fencing so please still keep a close eye on your pooch until its completion. The good news is that the two off-leash areas are now open and quickly becoming celebrated part of the community.

Scheduled for completion are items like additional seating, more landscaping, permanent trash containers, a public plaza, water fountains, and sprinklers. Dog waste bags have been supplied by Pawtrero Bathhouse & Feed Co. and a non-profit called SFDOG (San Francisco Dog Owners Group) is acting as the Park’s fiscal sponsor.

The Rincon Hill Dog Park has scheduled its’ Grand Opening for Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy!

Originally conceived in 2007 with the help of the Rincon Point South Beach Citizens Advisory Committee (RPSB-CAC), the Rincon Hill Dog Park is finally near completion. It is an open space located on the corner of Beale and Bryant Streets and will serve multiple purposes.

The obvious use, as the name implies, will be as a dog park. It will consist of two off-lease dog areas, hold a small open public plaza, a city historical plaque, and for the overall beautification of this great corner location.

The final phase will entail the installation of electricity that PG&E hopes to complete in early December. This will offer lighting for all to enjoy but until then can be used during day light hours. The dog park’s other additions will include fencing, landscaping, plastic bag dispensers, and planting which will be completed over the next few weeks. A Grand Opening celebration will take place so keep an eye out for more information on how you can be a part of the fun!
