One Hawthorne – Coming Soon…

“The 165-unit, 25-story tower will open its sales office in January, and residents will start moving in by mid 2010…  One Hawthorne is positioning itself as a more intimate alternative to the downtown mega-projects like the 656-unit Infinity, the 419-unit Millennium and the 709-unit One Rincon Hill. It has some of the same qualities as those projects — killer views, downtown location, high-end finishes, fitness center — but has a smaller, more subdued vibe. Units will likely start in the $400,000s for a junior one-bedroom. On the other end are eight 1,900-square-foot three-bedroom penthouses which, depending on the market, will likely land somewhere above $2 million.

The developer hopes the building’s location, on the corner of Howard and Hawthorne streets, will be a selling point as well. It’s right on the edge of the bustling south financial district, but its main entrance is on the small-scale, quiet, historic Hawthorne lane with its two- and three-story brick buildings. The building may also get a boost from some other investment in the neighborhood. Across Howard Street, SFMOMA is looking to build a new facility to house the late Don Fisher’s art museum. Corey Lee, former chef de cuisine at the French Laundry, is taking over space at 22 Hawthorne St. for Benu, a restaurant he plans to open in the spring.” – SF Business Times
