The Soma Grand community emerges

The area around the Soma Grand is slowly starting to blossom. The Trinity is steadily rising to meet its 23 stories. It’s the first building in an eventual total of four residential towers with retail to be at the bottom of this 1900 unit apartment complex. The architect, being the renowned Arquitectonica.

Across the street there is a beautiful renovation of an existing commercial building. This six story warehouse style building is undergoing a huge transformation. A beautiful lobby has emerged, and there is commercial space and a restaurant to follow. More info to come…

In the Soma Grand, the “Heavens Dog” has opened. Heaven being the appropriate word for this hip new bar/restaurant, another of Charles Phan’pre-prohibitions ingenious inventions. The fresh squeezed pre-prohibition drinks are flowing and the music playin’ with small plates and noodle dishes galore! Really a fun scene!

Across the way, Joie De Vivre has moved into the neighborhood with a fabulous hotel presence. The Good Hotel is a green inspired hotel with recycled materials used to make everything from the bedding to the items in the Green vending machine. This is a wonderful deal as well with the rates in january as low as $60. with parking!! And you cant forget what some people are saying is the best pizza in town -The Good Pizza. The thin crust with the fancy toppings such as local Molinari sausage or wild mushroom and fontina cheese is the yummiest. Joie de Vivre had also taken over the management of the Best Western for some time now. The formerly pink motel is now sleek and white and known as the Americania. The rooms are Jonathan Adlerish and there are Mac computers in the lobby. And there is a great burger place on the first floor known as Custom Burger. Again the makings for these burgers are quite inspired. Brioche buns and toppings from the likes of cucumber Raita to house made thousand Island. Don’t forget the sweet potato fries!!!

And after dinner there is definitely some action to be had. Theres something san Francisco hasn’t seen in a while-a cool new neighborhood bar! The Bloodhound. Hunting and sportsmen’s themed bar, there is some hunting going on and for this kind you dont need a license! This new hotspot has a very rustic yet upscale barn/Kentucky Derby style aesthetic with a sexy crowd.

In closing, stay tuned for the constant changes to mid market. It is just the beginning!
