The frequent diners of Axis Café may have to find a new brunch and coffee spot soon. The planning commission is pending approval on constructing a new 15-unit residential and ground retail building at the current Axis Café location off 16th St bordering Potrero Hill and SOMA. The developers will reserve a retail space for Axis Café after construction, so this restaurant must find an interim spot in the meantime.

This may be a small project compared to 201 Folsom or Phase II of One Rincon Hill, but it’s no coincidence Axis Café will become a new residential space. The San Francisco market is extremely hot right now, and Developers are confident again. Some say it feels like 2006 with new construction coming up throughout the city. It’s an exciting time for investors interested in the San Francisco Real Estate market.
